Slightly sweet, powerful and lemony scent.

Blends Well With: basil, bergamot, cedarwood, galbanum, geranium, lemon, lemongrass, lime, orange and pine.

Do not take internally. May irritate skin. Avoid during pregnancy.

Therapeutic properties: an antiseptic, deodorant, natural insecticide, parasitic and tonic.

Citronella’s properties are similar to Lemongrass. Use to keep insects at bay. Combine with Cedarwood, Lavender, Patchouli or Eucalyptus. You can diffuse the blend.

Citronella is often used in fly repellent formulas for use with horses and around the farms.

You can also add a few drops to the mopping water when mopping your home.

Aromatherapy

Because of its association with insect repellents, citronella is usually overlooked as an aromatherapy oil. That's a shame because citronella possesses warming and activating qualities on both the physical and mental levels.

Blends well with many different oils - Lavender, Neroli, Ylang Ylang, Rose, Sandalwood, Frankincense, Geranium, Fennel, Tea Tree, resinous essential oils, and many others.

Commonly used in place of Lemon Verbena and Melissa for economic reasons.
